 | The "Excel" is my traditional prewar style guitar which
incorporates the more modern
features used by the great hand makers of the past half century, such as
ebony appointments. Although, these guitars have the appearance of
classic prewar guitars, they are all about having a rich modern sound
and feel. |
 | The peghead is inlaid with a mother of pearl and abalone torch and banner
that is hand engraved
with the excel name and the Walker logo is of mother of pearl. It is bound with multi
layers of black, white, and ivoroid. It is faced front and back with ebony. An engraved
mother of pearl trussrod cover is standard. |
 | The fingerboard is ebony that is inlaid with fancy split blocks of mother of pearl and
is bound with black, white and ivoroid. |
 | The body is bound front, back and side in traditional 8-plys black, white, and
a heavy ivoroid outside binding. |
 | The F-holes are bound in fine black, white and ivoroid. |
 | The top is hand carved and tap tuned of very select aged Sitka spruce. |
 | The back is hand carved and tap tuned of very nice aged flamed American maple with
matching sides. |
 | The pickguard is ebony and bound with black, white, and ivoroid. |
 | The bridge and tailpiece are ebony. |
 | Machines are Grover Imperials or Schaller minis with ebony buttons. |
